Mullein leaf extract 10:1

Mullein is listed first because it is the largest part of the blend. The 10:1 ratio means ten kilograms of dried leaf yield one kilogram of extract, so a small amount of liquid carries the compounds of a much larger quantity of plant. Those compounds include mucilage, which forms a soothing film, saponins, traditionally associated with loosening mucus, and verbascoside, studied in the laboratory for antioxidant activity. The honest summary: a strong traditional record, encouraging lab work, and few human trials so far.

Ginger root extract

Ginger is among the best-researched herbs there is. Its trials cluster around nausea and digestion, with growing work on inflammatory balance. For airways, research is earlier stage, including laboratory studies on airway smooth muscle. We include it for throat comfort, for its support of a normal inflammatory response and because it pairs naturally with lemon. Note that many ginger trials use gram-level doses, more than any spray serving carries, so we make modest claims.

Organic lemon extract

Certified organic Citrus limon extract supplies flavonoids such as hesperidin and eriocitrin. It is here for antioxidant support and taste. We do not market it as a vitamin C source.

The other ingredients, and why they are there

IngredientIts job
Purified waterThe base of the liquid.
GlycerinA plant-derived carrier that keeps extracts in solution and gives a smooth mouthfeel.
Natural flavorsRound out the lemon-ginger taste.
Citric acidBalances acidity, which also helps preservation.
Potassium sorbate, sodium benzoateFood-grade preservatives. A water-based spray opened daily needs them to stay safe for its full life.

What "proprietary blend" means on our label

US labeling rules allow a blend to list its total weight, with ingredients in descending order by weight, without the individual amounts. We print the total, 154 mg, and the order. We do not print the split, and we would rather tell you that directly than dress it up. If a precise per-herb dose is essential for you, a single-herb product will suit you better, and that is a fair choice.

Allergens and cautions

BreathiZen contains no caffeine and no added stimulants. Do not use it if you are allergic to any listed ingredient, including plants in the figwort or ginger families or citrus. Ginger may add to the effect of blood-thinning medicine.

Quick questions

How many ingredients are in BreathiZen?

Three active herbs in the blend and six other ingredients, nine lines in total on our label.

Does BreathiZen contain caffeine?

No. There is no caffeine and no stimulant of any kind.

Why do some websites list five or seven ingredients?

Those pages are not ours. Our bottle's Supplement Facts panel lists three herbs. Always go by the label on the bottle you receive from our official website.

Please read before you order. BreathiZen is swallowed, not inhaled, and it is never a rescue inhaler. Keep using any medicine your doctor prescribed. Ginger can add to the effect of blood-thinning medicine, so ask your prescriber first if you take warfarin, apixaban, clopidogrel or daily aspirin. See a doctor promptly for breathlessness, wheezing or a cough that lasts more than three weeks.
